What are some medical reasons where you may need to have a cat?

I'm trying to find an apartment, but all the places that I can afford say "no pets". There is one place that would be perfect for me, but requires a doctors note if you want a pet. I can't leave my Missy cat. All of you animal lovers can probably understand what I mean. PLZ HELP!!!
